E3 & E4 R.I.T.
Madisons Rapid Intervention Team is comprised of two engine companies, for coverage over the city.
Engine 3 (Station 3) covers East, NE, and SE. Engine 4 (Station 4) covers West, NW, and SW. Both with four person crews, the crews are then divided into two teams. Each team member has there own initial responsibilities at a structure fire, then reassembles for staging and activation if necessary.
If activated team two will be deployed for recon and air supply to the downed or trapped firefighter. When the downed or trapped firefighter is located, team two will radio to team one the necessary equipment, supplies, etc., to extricate the firefighter.
Every week we have a RIT training day (usually Tuesdays), where we practice locating and rescuing downed or trapped firefighters.
